Welcome to your first issue of the "Scrap City Gazette," the official news source for The Scrap Kins--direct from the streets of Scrap City to your inbox.
It's been a fantastically busy fall season, from our first ever Recycled Craft Jam & Eco-Fashion Show to school projects to puzzles. I hope you enjoy your first Gazette. As always, I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions.
The Scrap Kins Eco-Fashion Show & Recycled Craft Jam
We have videos posted from our first ever Scrap Kins Eco-Fashion Show & Recycled Craft Jam held in October in Brooklyn. We had a great day of making recycled crafts and kid models strutting down the scrap-walk in eco-chic fashions.
If you're interested in having The Scrap Kins host an event at your school, festival or party, give us a shout.

The Scrap Kins in the Classroom!
The Scrap Kins recently made their ways into classrooms in Washington, DC and Berryville, VA. Using free downloadable recycled craft projects from Scrapkins.com, teachers Lisa Holley and Anne Sabatos-Young created lessons to teach their students about recycling. Way to go!
Our puzzle licensee, Lafayette Puzzle Factory has been busy prototyping the first Scrap Kins puzzle for their 2009 line. Here's a sneak peak. We're really excited to have them on board as a product partner. We'll be sure to let you know where and when they go on sale to the public.
ScrapKins® is an NYC-based Creativity brand for kids that follows the adventures of a tribe of monsters ("ScrapKins") who build a world out of the things we throw away. Through school visits and Recycled Art-Making workshops, the “ScrapKins” teach children to turn milk cartons into pirate ships and towel tubes into dinosaurs by finding creativity in common materials. We have created programs for Whole Foods Markets, Seventh Generation, Clif Bar, The Doha Film Institute in Qatar, Make, Speakaboos.com, Wildlife Conservation Society at The Bronx Zoo, World Science Festival, Maker Faire and Scholastic Afterschool. Created in 2006, by children's designer Brian Yanish and based on his childhood drawings, the ScrapKins mission is to inspire creativity and DIY resourcefulness in kids everywhere.
